AURORA | Jeremiah Daniels of Aurora is slated to make a very public splash next week on Times Square.

Daniels will be featured prominently Sept. 12 as part of the National Down Syndrome Society’s annual Times Square Video Presentation.

Daniels’ photograph was selected from more than 2,700 entries submitted during a worldwide call for photos by the National Down Syndrome Society.

His image will be displayed on two large screens above Dos Caminos restaurant in Father Duffy Square. The presentation, supported by Clear Channel Outdoor, will feature more than 500 photographs of children, teens and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states and 12 countries.

The one-hour presentation is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Eastern time and will be livestreamed on the NDSS Facebook page.

The Times Square presentation will kick off the New York City Buddy Walk, which will take place at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. The event has been held in New York City since 1995 as part of the National Buddy Walk Program.

The National Down Syndrome Society founded the Buddy Walk program in 1995 to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and raise funds for local and national initiatives supporting the Down syndrome community. Roughly 150 Buddy Walk events are held each year in communities across the country and in select international locations.

Founded in 1979, NDSS advocates for individuals with Down syndrome and their families through policy work, resources, community engagement and efforts to shift public perceptions. Its resources address issues including education, employment, health and wellness, and aging.
