Emergency repairs set to close part of East Quincy Avenue through Oct. 27

AURORA | Arapahoe County will close a portion of East Quincy Avenue starting Wednesday for two emergency bridge repairs.

The road, also known as Airline Road, will be closed to traffic between South Powhaton Road and South Watkins Road starting Oct. 21. Construction is expected to finish by Oct. 27, weather permitting.

The closure is needed to complete repairs on Black Shack Bridge and Coal Creek Bridge, which are between the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Watkins Road.

Local through traffic will still have access, but a detour is in place for other motorists, who can use a combination of South Gun Club Road, East Jewell Avenue and South Watkins Road.

Damage to the Black Shack and Coal Creek bridges was reported earlier this year and more repair work is scheduled for 2027.
