AURORA | A 17-year-old boy faces charges linked to allegations that he shot and injured a man during an altercation at a southeast Aurora apartment early Monday, police said.

Police were called to an apartment at Stone Cliff Apartments in the 17800 block of East Girard Drive, just after midnight after reports of a shooting there.  

“When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man who sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and a woman who had been assaulted.” Aurora Police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “Officers were quickly able to locate the suspect, a 17-year-old male.”

Investigators said the shooting came after an argument erupted among four people who knew one-another during an apartment gathering.

Police confiscated two guns from the shooting scene.

“The 17-year-old was detained and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the altercation,” Moylan said. He was expected to be booked into the Aurora city jail after his release from the hospital.
