AURORA | A new microtransit option is launching for Aurora seniors to get rides to medical appointments, errands and social events.

Aurora Rides will offer free, on-demand weekday rides for adults 60 and older. The rides can be booked starting six days in advance or up to four hours before the desired pickup time.

Rides can be booked through the Aurora Rides app, which is available from the app store on Apple and Android devices, and by phone at 720-881-0197. Wheelchair-accessible rides are available.

The service area encompasses most of the area west of Interstate-225 to the western Aurora city boundary, but also includes Heather Gardens and St. Andrews Village. Rides are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays.

The city contracted with Via, in partnership with the Regional Transportation District, to offer the grant-funded pilot program.
