Filipino Friday Night: “Shadows and Sunrises” Author Talk

Filipina American author Sheilah Jane discusses her memoir “Shadows and Sunrises,” a work examining resilience, identity and belonging through the lens of Filipino American experience. FACC Padayon will also perform, giving the evening a combination of literary discussion and Filipino cultural performance. The program is part of the Aurora History Museum’s Filipino Friday Night series.

DeLaney Farm Open Days

Step into Aurora’s agricultural past during an open-house afternoon at the historic DeLaney Farm. Visitors can explore the round barn, Gully House and surrounding farmland associated with one of the families who lived on the plains before Aurora was established. The museum adds family scavenger hunts, games and refreshments, making the event part historic-site tour and part community heritage day.

Centennial House Open Days

Aurora’s early history comes alive at Centennial House, one of the city’s original Queen Anne-style “Fletcher homes.” Visitors can tour the historic residence and learn about the people and communities that helped shape early Aurora. The open-house format allows visitors to explore the property at a relaxed pace rather than through a conventional museum gallery.

“Route 15” at Roshni Healing Arts Sanctuary

“Route 15” is an immersive theater production built around the real-life stories of people connected to the communities served by Roshni. The central character, Moe, drives an East Colfax bus route that becomes a vehicle for meeting people described as displaced, disabled, divergent, disadvantaged and disruptive. The production blends world dance, comedy and multidisciplinary arts to tell a story about welcome, kindness and shared connection.

This world-premiere comedy turns a stand-up routine into a courtroom-style battle over intellectual property. In the 1990s-set story, comedian Jacey Weisz accuses a national headliner of stealing one of her jokes. A fired comedian, an overconfident replacement and a police officer become entangled in the dispute as the comedy club owner tries to save his weekend. The result is billed as a no-holds-barred “comedy kumite.”

37th Annual Friendship Powwow at the Denver Art Museum

3rd Annual Kinship Arts Movement Mural Festival

The Kinship Arts Movement Mural Festival brings public art, live painting, music and performance together for a free community celebration centered on the theme “To the Land That Remembers.” The Aurora portion includes an opening-night community day followed by a full Performance Day with artists painting murals in real time, music, an open mic, performances, vendors and food. The festival provides an unusually direct way to watch public art being created rather than simply viewing finished work.
