Man shot in the arm early Monday while sleeping in east Aurora greenbelt

AURORA | A 61-year-old man sleeping in an Aurora greenbelt was shot in the arm and injured early Monday, police said.

Officers were called to the area of 16800 E. Iliff Ave. at about 1 a.m. Monday after reports of a shooting there. 

There, police encountered a man with a gunshot wound to his upper left arm.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury caused by the shooting.

“The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred while the victim was sleeping in a greenbelt in the 16700 block of East Iliff Avenue,” Aurora police Agent Kristopher McDowell said in a statement.

Police searched the area but no suspect was found.
