AURORA | A Bennet man was arrested yesterday after investigators linked him to an Aurora home invasion where he is accused of binding a man face down, stealing guns and other items before leaving the victim tied up.

Police were called to a home in the 900 block of Ouray Street at about 1 p.m. Saturday to investigate a reported home invasion. The man told officers he had friends in his house until about 5:30 a.m.

“Shortly after his friends left, an adult male armed with a handgun entered the residence, ordered the victim to lay down, and bound his wrists behind his back,” Aurora Police spokesperson Agent Kristopher McDowell said in a statement. “The suspect reportedly took several valuables, including firearms.”

Police said John Cutlip, 63, is a “person of interest in the case.”  Officers contacted Cutlip near his home in Bennett and arrested him.

As of Tuesday, he was being held in the Arapahoe County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. Jail records show he faces a charge of aggravated robbery.

A court appearance is scheduled for Friday in Arapahoe County court.
