AURORA | Aurora police are asking for the community’s help to identify the car and driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a cyclist.

Police shared traffic camera photos of a 2015-2019 white Subaru Outback they believe was involved in the July 27 crash and asked residents to help identify it. Police said a car hit the cyclist around midnight July 27 near South Powhaton Road and East Jewell Avenue and then drove away. 

The cyclist was not found until the morning and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cyclist was identified on social media by his family as 26-year-old Arthur Williams. 

The Subaru Outback believed to be involved was last seen around midnight July 26 at Gun Club Road and East Quincy Avenue. Police said the car will have damage to the front passenger side headlight and hood and may be missing a fog light on the passenger side.

Police said the area of the crash does not have license plate reader cameras.

A community vigil is also being planned to honor Williams’ life. It’s scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at the corner of South Powhaton Road and East Jewell Avenue.
