Man critically injured early Sunday in shooting at ‘large gathering’ in Aurora

AURORA | An unidentified man is in critical condition after being shot at a “large gathering” early Sunday in northwest Aurora, police said,

Officers were called to the 11600 block of East 16th Avenue at about 1 a.m. after reports of a shooting there.

“While officers were investigating the scene, they were notified that an adult male had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound,” Aurora spokesperson Gabby Easterwood said in a statement. “The investigation revealed the victim’s injuries were related to the shooting on E. 16th Avenue, where a large gathering had been taking place.”

Investigators at the scene said there was evidence of gunfire, but they did not detail their findings.

The shooting victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was considered to be in stable condition Sunday afternoon.

Police said no arrests had been made as of Sunday.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
