Man, 33, faces charges in injury shooting of a child, 11, on a bike with friends in Aurora
AURORA | A 33-year-old Aurora man faces charges linked to the injury shooting of a child, 11, who was riding a bike with two friends in north Aurora earlier this month, police said Friday.
Jalen Davis was arrested after investigators recovered a firearm they say was used in the Oct. 12 shooting, Aurora police spokesperson Kristopher McDonald said in a statement.
Officers responded 11 p.m. Oct. 12 to an area near East First Avenue and Havana Street after reports of shooting there.
“The victim told officers he and two friends were riding bicycles when they encountered a man and woman walking in the area,” McDonald said. “According to the victim, the woman asked the boys, ‘Do you want to get shot?’ before the man displayed a handgun and fired two rounds at them.”

On Oct. 20, an Aurora patrol officer near Havana Street and East First Avenue spotted a man and a woman matching the descriptions in the bulletin,” McDonald said. The officer contacted the pair and identified the man as Davis, police said.
He was booked into the Aurora Municipal Detention Center and faces charges of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and menacing.
He is in custody at the Arapahoe County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
