Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in northwest Aurora early Sunday

AURORA | Aurora police are investigating what appears to be a hit-and-run pedestrian death early Monday in northwest Aurora.

Police were called to the intersection of East 16th Avenue and Fulton Street at about 2:30 a.m. after reports of a person in the roadway.

“When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man in the westbound lanes of East 16th Avenue who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle,” Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “The man died at the scene.”

Police said the driver fled the scene after the crash.

The man’s identity will be released later by coroner officials.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
