AURORA | Emergency lane closures have been put in place at the intersection of South Chambers Road and East Mississippi Avenue due to a utility crew drilling into the city’s sanitary sewer line.

At about 4 p.m. Monday, the city had to implement lane closures to accommodate emergency repairs to the sanitary sewer line.

Kirby Shedlowski, spokesperson for Aurora Water, said another utility bored through the line and the duration of the repair is “evolving pending coordination with other utility owners.”

Lane closures are in place southbound and northbound on South Chambers Road and westbound on East Mississippi Avenue. Shedlowski encouraged drivers to pay attention to signage in the area.

“While driving in the area use caution and be aware of construction activities. Give yourself extra time to get to your destination,” she said.

Shedlowski said there are no health concerns or service impacts from the broken line at this time.
