AURORA | Nine girls lacrosse players from Colorado earned All-American honors from USA Lacrosse and that group included one from the Aurora area.

Recently graduated senior Lainey Phillips, who helped Regis Jesuit make it to the Class 5A state championship game before falling to Valor Christian, earned a spot on the list as a defender. Phillips was the only defensive player on the list of Colorado honorees.

With Phillips’ help, coach Crysti Foote’s Raiders — who finished 15-4 — allowed just 135 goals in 19 games, which was one of the lowest totals in the state. Phillips was a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 5A first team all state team and also achieved All-Aurora first team honors.

Three players from the Valor Christian team that defeated Regis Jesuit in the state championship game played at Peter Barton Stadium — and the only team to score in double figures against the Raiders all season — also earned All-American honors, while 4A state champion Evergreen plus Arapahoe, Colorado Academy, Fairview and Golden were represented.
