9 sent to hospitals after multi-car crash shuts down Aurora intersection Wednesday

AURORA | Police shut down East Jewell Avenue onto E-470 at about noon Wednesday after a multi-car crash that sent nine people to local hospitals for treatment, police said. 

As of 2 p.m., the intersection remained closed as police investigated.

The nine people sent to hospitals suffered “minor to moderate” injuries, police said in a social media post. 

“The intersection remains closed. Two vehicles will require tows,” police said. “Please continue to avoid the area.”

The cause of the crash was not released.
