{"id":56,"date":"2026-05-07T17:37:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T17:37:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/denvermovingchronicle.com\/?p=56"},"modified":"2026-05-07T17:37:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T17:37:16","slug":"aurora-man-convicted-in-2024-fatal-injuries-of-10-day-old-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/denvermovingchronicle.com\/?p=56","title":{"rendered":"Aurora man convicted in 2024 fatal injuries of 10-day-old daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>AURORA<\/strong> | A jury found an Aurora man guilty of killing his newborn daughter after medical evidence revealed extensive injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hector Alexandro Delarosa, 21, was convicted Friday of a felony charge of child abuse resulting in death for the 2024 death of his 10-day-old daughter, according to a press release from the 18th Judicial District Attorney\u2019s Office\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In April 2024, Aurora police responded to Colorado Children\u2019s Hospital after Delarosa\u2019s daughter was admitted with severe injuries, including a skull fracture, irreversible brain<\/p>\n<p>bleeding, multiple retinal hemorrhages and a fractured femur. The child was placed on life support, but life-sustaining measures were ultimately withdrawn, and she died on May 3, 2024.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The release says Delarosa told investigators that the injuries may have resulted from an accident while bathing the child, but medical experts \u201cdetermined that the explanation was<\/p>\n<p>inconsistent with the severity of the injuries.\u201d Police said Delarosa\u2019s story changed multiple times throughout the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>An autopsy found the injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma and the death was ruled a homicide.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis conviction reflects the jury\u2019s careful consideration of the evidence and ensures<\/p>\n<p>accountability for the death of a defenseless newborn,\u201d Deputy District Attorney Tory Reavis said in the release. \u201cWhile no outcome can undo this loss, we are committed to seeking justice for victims who cannot speak for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No charges were filed against the child\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n<p>Delarosa is scheduled to be sentenced June 29.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/denvermovingchronicle.com\/?p=50\">Legislature OKs two bills aimed at reducing state prison population, expenses<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/denvermovingchronicle.com\/?p=52\">Millions in the US never finished college.
