{"id":1872,"date":"2026-06-03T21:04:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T21:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/denvermovingchronicle.com\/?p=1872"},"modified":"2026-06-03T21:04:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T21:04:16","slug":"construction-begins-on-1600-home-prairie-point-development-in-southeast-aurora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/denvermovingchronicle.com\/?p=1872","title":{"rendered":"Construction begins on 1,600-home Prairie Point development in southeast Aurora"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><strong>AURORA<\/strong> | Construction is underway on the Prairie Point development, which will ultimately bring more than 1,600 new homes to southeast Aurora.<\/p>\n<p>The 900-acre master planned community from Oakwood Homes, along the E\u2011470 corridor near Parker Road, will bring a mix of housing options, as well as an 18-hole golf course, parks, recreation areas, trails and open space.<\/p>\n<p>Construction will happen in phases, with the first homes expected to be on the market in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>City leaders and developers celebrated the groundbreaking at Prairie Point May 28. In remarks at the groundbreaking, Mayor Mike Coffman said the new neighborhood will help meet the needs of the growing city.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cCommunities like Prairie Point help us expand housing options, support a strong local economy and ensure new development is aligned with infrastructure, jobs and long-term livability,\u201d Coffman said.<\/p>\n<p>Oakwood Homes Colorado Market President Ryan Delp said the neighborhood is unlike others from Oakwood Homes because of its access to Cherry Creek School District, employment centers like the Denver Tech Center, retail outlets and amenities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrairie Point is designed for buyers at every stage to put down roots and thrive, and today\u2019s groundbreaking marks an important milestone as this one-of-a-kind community comes to life,\u201d Delp said.<\/p>\n<p>The community is being built on one of the last remaining undeveloped parcels of its size in the metro area. Oakwood Homes bought the land for $44.6 million in 2021, according to the Denver Post.<\/p>\n<p>A majority of the homes, roughly 1,000, will be north of E-470, with the remaining south of the highway.
